ARABADUB – The Spy From Cairo

A mix of traditional Arabic instruments and dub reggae, The Spy from Cairo is a two album compilation of musician and producer Moreno-Zeb Visini. Known commonly as Zeb, this innovator has created over 10 albums over the past twelve years that have brought new sounds to American turntables.

Like most of his previous albums, The Spy from Cairo samples the untapped mysterious and ancient sounds of the Middle East. Ultimately creating catchy and psychedelic beats that are still rarely heard on this side of the Atlantic.

In his latest album Arabadub, which dropped in May 2012, the sounds veer away from the heavy instrumentals and find a more pleasing balance between the eastern traditional folk elements and the more western dub/reggae beats. A prime example being “Egyptian Pulse”:
