Halo Refuser – Into Your Layers

Halo Refuser, Asher Fulero, Ganjaology

Ever feel like there was more to you than meets the eye? As if there’s something behind that skin that you see when you look in the mirror. Something magnificent. Something magical. Something mysterious and exciting and free. Well, this is exactly the kind of thinking that [eye] and my many counterparts in this creation have been expressing lately. One of these is Portland producer and keyboard extraordinaire, Asher Fulero.

In his new album – Into Your Layers – Asher aka Halo Refuser dissects himself and his mind through an awesome selection of sound, rhythm and song. The music might be described as expressive, expansive, seductive or sensational. In nine beautifully crafted tracks, Asher lays the groundwork for the levels upon which his spirit expresses itself. With the lyrics of the first track, I ponder the possibility that there is a deeper meaning as to why he chose specifically nine. Nine lives of a cat. Nine bodies in our solar system. Nine numerical frequencies before we repeat again from one.

This is great music for kicking back, relaxing, remembering, or even meditating. Moving melodies supported by gentle drums, filtered percussion and light vocals characterize this masterful release. It is clear by the glowing energy of the keys that many of the piano lines are improvised, adding life to the recording. If you like going deep, revealing new levels of yourself through the exploration of sound… getting lost in the looking glass – this was created for you.
