In the midst of a cold winter in most parts of North America, a couple cool cats from British Colombia have recently released a mix that is nothing but pure summer vibes. I feel that this is a little reminder from our northern neighbors that summer isn’t as far away as you might think…or it may feel. You should probably crank the heat to about 85*F and roll up a couple fatty’s to properly enjoy this mix. Big ups BC Dub Cats for this incredibly chill mix!
For the past two months I have hit replay on this album day after day like religion. I think that its been just enough time for me to digest the fullness and freshness of this beautiful piece of sonic art. Terry D by Thriftworks takes electronic music to a new level of passion, a new height of creation. With impeccable production and mastering, Terry D is an album to spend some time with. Bubbling synths and magical sweeps, wrapped around twisted hip hop and poetic sound frames characterize this fascinating release.
Pick up the album digitally here. Name your price!

Today I just want to kick back and relax. I need some good thinking music, some good smoking music, and some calm energy being cast through my speakers….

Press, a staple in the Seattle dubstep scene who represents Shift Recordings, has just released a free track he’s been sitting on for a while entitled Rinse It. Interlaced with distant jungle sounds, echoed out clicks and knocks, chest thumping drums, and eerie synth lines, Rinse It projects some seriously deep vibes set in an atmosphere of an unknown world, that can only truly be heard with the power of a subwoofer. Enjoy the free download from the NW dubstep producer and stay up to date with what Press is putting out via SOUNDCLOUD or FACEBOOK. Enjoy!
Tokyo Dawn Records is bringing back the boogie with their recently released compilation album, The Boogie Volume 3. This 17 track album is made up of artists from around the world, who collectively share one common knowledge. What is that one common knowledge? Understanding what it takes to make your feet move, no matter who YOU may be.
This is a really refreshing album to listen to. It’s the third installment of the Tokyo Dawn Records Boogie series, and they’ve made quite a splash in the international dance community with this one. With my inbox being flooded with glitch-hop and dubstep, it was really nice to open this gem and experience the cool positive vibes each track pushes from the speakers.
My favorite track on The Boogie Volume 3 is Eternal Wisdom by Reeno. From the 80’s opening synth line all the way down to the clear muffled drums, this track flows like water. It’s the kind of song you start moving your body to and all of a sudden 4 minutes has gone by! The simplicity and concentration on the synth lines really brings the atmosphere being projected from Eternal Wisdom to a whole new level of chill.
If you like beats inspired by hip-hop, funk, soul, and R&B, you’ll love The Boogie Volume 3.
This track is ROWDY and is hands down the best Skrillex song ever made. I got nothing else to say. Let the music speak!
Adam Prescott comes with the satin finish remix of this beautiful track by Max Powa. With vocals by reggae singer Horace Andy, this track spells splendor. Sit back and let this silky selection stream into your consciousness like a slithering serpent. Don’t be afraid of this image as it is well known that snake represents infinite life… that ideal state communicated to us through our heart chakra which can only be attained through love.
Do you love?
Here is a nice and dubby 5 track playlist brought to you by none other than London, England’s, Kulture. This is such a nice sexy, dubby, and smooth set of tunes to vibe to in the early morning. I recommend a big cup of coffee, a medium-large spliff, a nice set of speakers, and 30 minutes to get into your chill space. It can’t do anything but stick a little extra positivity into your daily flow.
I must say that it disturbs me when I see those televisions whose sole purpose is to display a fireplace in place of where a real fire should be. Recently I heard someone say that television is a great way for their kids to learn about nature. Seriously, that is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever hear. It is sad that we live in a time when parents feel its ok for children to experience the world through a virtual reality. That said, if I’m gonna watch anything, I love seeing beautiful landscapes and awesome animal activity that I might not ever be able to experience in nature. If you are of the same mind, check out this beautiful photography overlayed with superb ambient dubstep. It’s a wonder that this is only now coming out. WE WANT MORE!!
And don’t forget to give thanks for the wonderful world in which we live. Go outside. Feel the earth against your feet. Feel the sun against your face. And enjoy the time you have here. It won’t last forever. But until then, kick back and vibe with this sweet media treat.
Here’s some more to keep your party grooving.
Get your funky two step on for Vapor Mache’s brilliant bass tune, “Hokum.” This heavy glitch track emits digitalized catchy vocals backed by bumping basslines. Turn up the volume and let the reverbing bass move your body to its bold beats. Vapor’s eclectic style pulls from distinctive electronic genres such as Downtempo, Chillstep, Deep Dub, Bass Crunk, and Glitch Hop. His next level drops will hook you every time, so anticipate tasty change-ups meant to reel in your intrigued attention. Vapo Mache’s fresh grooves have been played at artsy events such as Lightning in a Bottle. So stay on the look out to experience Mache’s rolling, crunk-dub rhythms.
Here’s another beautiful tune from LA-based female electronic producer TOKiMONSTA. Characteristic of her unusual style, this track incorporates a number of opposing textures intertwined to produce a soothing elixer of sound. With Gavin Turek on the vocals, the song couldn’t get much better. Check in with BrainFeeder to check out the rest of the Creature Dreams EP, released this past spring.
Big ups to Doug Chang for the film direction.
Did you say you want to hear some spacey shit? How about some beautifully crafted, crippling future sound. Oh and you want it sexy? And you want… what’s that? A little mbira mixed samba vibe to start things off. Funny you should ask.
Take a listen to this mix by Shigato for the London design label, Streets of Beige. Be prepared. These sounds are guaranteed to put you on the lean. Get ready to sink into that seat and turn your headphones up.

I’m just tryina’ chill tonight….
Not tryin’ to end up in a fight…
But I see ya creepin’ ’round the corner…
tryina’ hide that butchers knife…
You might have gotten a step ahead…
But the result is that you’re dead.

This post is a little bit different than most of my others. These 3 tunes below aren’t bass heavy, they’re not dark, and they don’t have any wobbles. These beautifully crafted remixes have a very unique sound. The producer Pogo a.k.a. Nick Bertke takes sound clips from a set movie or show, chops and tunes them to his liking, then builds funky, melodic and beautiful tunes. The best part is, it’s not only music! The videos are edited to follow along with the song. Below are three that I found to be really cool, there are MANY more on his youtube channel though.

Enjoy these beautiful, positive songs!
Sometimes when the cold of winter is getting to you, its important to remember that warmth will come as the seasons change. This track, aptly titled Summer Lovin is keeping me warm this season.
Oh you liked that one. Here’s one more by Sleepyhead.
This one is hot off the press, so to speak. Released just yesterday on SoundCloud, this track is a beautiful representation of the power of sound. With its incredibly seductive chord sequencing and synth patterns, Let Me Show You will will surely prove valuable when played through your bedroom boombox. Through whispering samples and portent percussion, the track begs for for release. MMMMmmmmmm….
Seemingly unsigned, we don’t know too much about the D.C. artist calling himself, Nature Rage. If you are out there Mr. Rage… please provide instructions for purchasing your tunes.
And while you’re at it – Big Up Yourself!
As bass music infiltrates the auditory environments of a wider an wider audience, we are seeing the intersection of beautiful bass and the sounds of another wonderful genre of music, rhythm and blues.
Set for release on February 7, Stuart Howard aka Lapalux will be dropping his new 7 track EP, entitled When You’re Gone. Lapalux has made a name for himself through a number of bootleg edits of popular R&B songs along with his casette only release, Many Faces Out of Focus.
Take a listen below to the sampler audio for the new EP set to release next month with California recording label, Brainfeeder [BF027].
I’ve included a couple additional tracks so that you get get a feel for this cat’s style. Soothing, I’d say…
Holy Jesus Fucking Shit Christ. Sorry I’m not sorry for saying that. This song is so deep! All I can possibly do right now is sit back with a fatty bwoy and space out while Eastern Vibes makes my sub bounce off the floor. This is the first track I heard from Roland, of London, England, and it sure as hell won’t be the last! Check out a few of his other tunes too. They’re all beautifully spacey and on the super chill tip. This is officially #GanjaologyApproved.
