If you’re not already hip to Mat The Alien, it’s time to inform yourself. This man is one of the well kept secrets of the Pacific North West. Originally from England, now residing primarily in BC, Mat The Alien holds down a weekly event at Maxx Fish Lounge in Whistler with Andrea Graham aka The Librarian, one of the creators of Bass Coast. Mat is also the founder and head of Really Good Recordings, a premium bass music label based in BC, Canada!
Here we have ground breaking mix from Mat The Alien, which he did for the BC based music blog Dub Selekta and their Bass Coast Festival Decompression Series. This is packed full of tunes, plus some very rare DJ tricks that only Mat can do. If you’ve ever seen him play, you will know what we’re talking about. His skills are out of this world, hence… The Alien!

I thought that I’d share this gem with you all, it’ll really set your weekend off in the right manner. Check out this sick remix from Self Help, positive vibes as always! If you dig it, grab the free download as well.
When Self Help releases…we write…about everything…! Ohio’s lead player in the underground bass music scene is stepping up the awesomeness of summertime with his new remix of Department Of Eagle’s song, No One Does It Like You. What a proper title for this song too. Why? You might ask? Well…because no one does it like Self Help. No One Does It Like You has all the addictive qualities Self Help has been pumping out through speakers world wide over the last couple years. An unmistakeable bouncy bass line…samples chopped up with the utmost style…and melodic builds and breakdowns that have feet two stepping and percolating in every direction on the dance floor. All the technical aspects of this remix are great and I could continue to say positive things, but my favorite thing about this track and a lot of the remixes Self Help has done is the fact that the originals are still worth listening to too. A lot of producers are putting out remixes that sound great…but you wouldn’t be caught dead listening to the original song. For Self Help that is not the case at all and this leaves him ranked very high up there in my top artists list. He has a great ear for good, authentic, emotionally moving music, which is reflected by the tunes he chooses to remix and in his versatile, genre-limitless DJ sets. Self Help’s Ghetto Disco Dub of No One Does It Like You is a free download so be sure to add this one to your library! Also worth checking out is the video for the original song by Department Of Eagles. Enjoy!
Welcome Self Help back to Ganjaology as we present his brand new piece of sound art, which is (as you may have already guessed) absolutely incredible. With the idea for this song stemming from an afro-funk sample and over a year of thought and hard work put into every aspect of this “afro-tropical-house” beat, Self Help has come to terms with his beautifully bassy creation and is calling his finalish draft, Gingko Biloba. Gingko Biloba also known as the Maidenhair Tree is a rare species of tree found in China that has no close living relatives and has been used in traditional medicinal practices in the past. Is it a coincidence this song, which contains healing powers of it’s own, carries the name of an ancient healing tree? I think not. Self Help is one aware being, and this is his medicine that he’s giving out to the world, through one of the most ancient forms of administration. Through Music. Enjoy this tune, it’s made up of nothing but love and positivity, and be sure to check back for more Self Help in the future!
“In Heaven, everything is fine. You’ve got your good things…and I’ve got mine…”
Here’s some new Self Help for ya! This time he’s bringing some unclassifiable awesomeness to your home speakers with a remarkably graceful remix of David Lynch’s, In Heaven, from the movei Eraserhead. It’s stellar. Check it out!
Huge things comin’ from this Bolivian based Drum & Bass/Jungle producer! I’ve gone through a bunch of his mixes up on his soundcloud and I seriously can’t get enough of em’. Each mix has such a good flow to it, and it really demonstrates the versatility of Te Wa as a DJ. He always brings different sounds into the mix that are always really unique and off the beaten path of popular Drum & Bass. His song selection might not always be the most popular stuff, and it won’t come as a surprise if you don’t know every song, but each tune is perfectly selected and molded into the mixes flawlessly. Check a couple of his mixes below and hit up his soundcloud right here!
Here is brand new remix out homie Self Help did for a Cleveland based electronic artist named Freeze-Tag. Tidal Wave is right up my alley for the beats I’ve been listening to recently. Not too heavy, not too many words, a nice hard kick/snare/clap combo to keep your feet moving, and yes, it of course has Self Help’s energy oozing out of your speakers and into your heart. The orginal Tidal Wave is definitely worth checking out too so here is the video for that. Sexy and smooth. It’s that simple. Enjoy!
Self Help has broken down all barriers of the genre limit often times associated with DJ’s in today’s electronic music scene with his new mix Clusterfunk Part Deux. Take a listen for yourself. The mixing is incredible and the tracklist leaves me a little dumbfounded at its diverse selection of dj’s from about every corner of the globe. No matter what type of bass music you crave the most, Clusterfunk Part Deux will fill that void in your life.

This tune is huge. The Manchester based producer compa has killed it in a minimal dark way. Not only does this guy spin solely on vinyl, production-wise has quite an interesting sound to say the least. His drum work puts you in an almost entranced state, which is then driven along by these interesting wobble patterns that are not only appeal aurally but make you think as well. This ones a stinkah so throw it on, turn it up and let it fill your room with positive darkness.
If you’ve ever read any of my other posts you’d know that I’m a promoter of anyone who sticks close to the garage/dubstep feel that originated out of England. Although these guys are fellow Yankees, they keep the dark dubstep feel and have a great unique sound. This swung banger is sure to get any head boppin and has these weird stabs that provide a dark heavy sound. Biggin up Megalodon on this big tune, Check IT!
Dj Eso, of Keyel, aka co-owner of Heart & Sole, aka Clevelands next local legend, brings a extra smooth mix for the world to hear entitled Take A Ride in the ESOLADE : The Purple Tape. I’ve known Eso for more than a couple years now and he’s always been one of the freshest cats on the block. Whether it be the smooth vibes he’s pushing through the parties speakers, or fresh kicks that stay cemented onto his feet, you’ll always know when Eso is around! Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more mixes coming from Eso in 2012. And watch your girlfriend!

Banditz are on a roll this year! With inspiration drawn from just about every aspect of life, Dozur and J Hanna have brought another beautifully crafted piece of art for your ears. This time, it’s a remix they have done for Cleveland’s genre-limitless beat master, Self Help. The remix is crisp, fresh, a little faster than the original, and really leaves you feeling the energy put into this tune. Check it out! While you’re taking in our small sample of the song, please enjoy the visual art of what Cape Cassandra looks like (sunset hours)! Our homie, Big Blunt, of Thumbnugget put the image together for us. Big ups to everyone involved with this project!

More from Banditz and Self Help coming soon…
With the Banditz hard at work in their frosty fresh beat factory (they keep the air at 65*F to be exact, that’s winter coat weather down South!) down in Orlando, Florida, they will with out a doubt be one of the most sought after dubstep duo’s to come from the Southern sunshine state. In Like Sin is their latest releases that is a collaboration between Banditz and Hijinx, another Orlando dj/producer. Together, the 3 young producers have created a perfect scenario where beauty and evil compliment each other like never before and intertwine throughout the track like threads of a rope. It’s rare a song sends shivers down my spine, but hearing this song for the first time through four Mackie SRM450’s and two 18″ powered subs will do just that. TURN THIS THE FUCK UP!! An EP should be coming along soon from Bandtiz so keep an ear tuned to Ganjaology.org and hear it first when it’s released. BIG UPS FELLAZ!!
This track is pure evil. I’m expecting Lucifer himself to slowly creep out of my speakers at any minute…or maybe be abducted by aliens? Either way I think I’ll end up in the same place. HELL. Have a listen to this freshly released banger and you tell me where people will be going after this gets dropped in the club.
Ganjaology team member John Hanna aka @itsthejhanna has a new project in the works with Florida native, Billy Da Kid, better known to the Orlando bass scene as Dozur. Together they now go by Banditz. With a new release this past week and shows in both Florida and Ohio over the next few months, these two Full Sail University producers will have their work cut out for them while they finish up 2011. Follow Banditz on SoundCloud HERE, ‘like’ their Facebook page HERE, and click play below to hear their new track BPD.
