National Cannabis Industries Association and Bhang recently teamed up to celebrate the legal side of the newly founded cannabis industry this past weekend at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO. With a name like ‘Cannabis Carnival’ I had the expectation that there may be some typical wild stoner shenanigans taking place, but upon my arrival I found a much more mature crowd, and came to the quick realization that there were no smoking activities taking place within the Fillmore. For some this could have been a little bit weird, but on a personal level, it was a nice change from the typical marijuana party. Bhang Chocolate set up a really comfortable chill lounge in the middle of the venue which comfortably sat around 50 people, and around the sides of the event surrounding the dance floor were a wonderful variety of artists, cannabis industry professionals, and carnival themed attractions such as a dress up photo booth and a dunk bucket.
The entertainment of the evening was top notch. NCIA brought out Rob Garza of Thievery Corp, Quixotic, The Everyone Orchestra, and the legendary trio Medeski, Martin, & Wood, to bless Denver with their one of a kind take on jazz. This was a show that many people had been waiting a lifetime to see in person. When MMW were getting set up everyone in the venue was in awe at how incredible and intricate their live show was going to be. First came the Organ, then came the super custom percussive section, then out came the grand piano, and finally a beautiful stand up bass. MMW and all of their opening acts put on a performance that was nothing short of amazing.
Big Thanks to NCIA and BHANG CHOCOLATE for the wonderful vibes. It was beautiful seeing the community the new cannabis industry is creating. See you next year!
