J-Path – Threshing Ground (Trigram 01)

Dub-Steppers and Reggae Heads Unite!

This release, coming from the heads at Steppas Records aka Trigram, is a nice blend between deep dubstep and reggae. These guys have been putting out awesome bass music, pressing it to vinyl, and spreading it to the world for quite some time now. They’re coming at the scene with their latest release with Seoul, South Korea Native J-Path. The A-side of the release is the wonderful release with a bit of a percussive swing to it, and the B-side is the talented Alpha Steppa’s remix of tune. Check out these vibey tunes below and grab the release on vinyl if your decks are hungry for fresh acetate!

Pete Graham & Chris Lorenzo – Reminiscent Love EP

Anytime I catch wind that Four40 Records has a new release out I get excited.  The latest release Four40 put out is by Pete Graham & Chris Lorenzo.  The name of their EP is Reminiscent Love.  From the eerie intro, all the way to the catchy wobble ridden bass line, the first track off Reminiscent Love, I Love You So, has gotten me hooked on this new take on house.  Enjoy the EP and grab a copy for yourself off Juno!

Skream – “Mood To Funk”

Intelepaths – Neon Arrows EP

July is upon us.  In the year of the dragon, us Americans will be celebrating the 236th year of our independence as a country on July 4th.  Along with all the days off work, proud emotions, arguably some of the most epic BBQ’s world-wide, and an incomparable amount of fireworks going off nation wide, the 4th of July is known to many as a reason to throw the most outlandish parties imaginable.  This year there is a special treat for the bass music community not only in the United States, but around the world…

On Tuesday, July 3rd, Intelepaths will be releasing their debut EP, entitled Neon Arrows, through Critical Beats.  Made up of Ill-esha, and Unlimited Gravity (aka two of the West coasts most well known glitchy/dubby/hip-hoppy/all-around-awesome artists around), Intelepaths is a brand new project and a brand new name, constructed of two bass music veterans.  Both Unlimited Gravity and Ill-esha have a very steady and enthusiastic following which seems to have already launched this project into the “sucessful” realm of things.  Upon hearing about the beginning of Intelepaths from Ill-esha herself a couple months ago, I was immediately intrigued by the sound that these two would produce together and had a feeling it may be a sound unheard before.

“2 people doing live singing, rapping, looping…we both produce” was what I was told.  And that is exactly what has been delivered…and a whole lot more…

Made up of 5 songs, Neon Arrows is an INCREDIBLY different take on what you’ve been hearing in glitch-hop.  Combing their beautiful harmonized voices, over top beatbox recordings, over the funkiest of bass lines, backed by the thickest, crispiest drums, and topped off with an orchestral ambiance,  Intelepaths have crafted a sound that they can genuinely call their own.

You all heard the preview of what was on the way with Intelepath’s cover of Adina Howard’s Freak Like Me.  I don’t doubt that this will be one of the most sought after releases from Critical Beats this year.  In TWO days you’re able to get your copy of Intelepaths debut EP Neon Arrows to properly set off your 4th of July with the fireworks of their sound.

Until then…enjoy the previews!

Biome – “Havana”

J. Hanna here.

This here’s a big one from UK producer Biome. The tune “Havana” is set to release along side “No Tomorrow” as well as two edits of the B side. It seems as though the actual date is not set yet but it is said to be “Coming Soon” on the label’s soundcloud. Can’t wait for this one to come out, I’m sure to bag it that day. Big up Biome for another deep banger!

Surge – Leech/Swaying Mantis Release

Coming up in just 3 days from now, Wheel and Deal Records is set to release a massive EP. However this is not your everyday release. No, this is an EP that has a very unique feel to it. Surge, hailing from the Dubstep mecha of Croydon, has (as he puts it) ‘built’ a very interesting sound to say the least. Both tracks are great tracks and have the same style in the way the synths move, even down to the frequency content of the synths. The track that really got me hooked though was “Leech”. That tune is simply mesmerizing, with the beautiful female vocals sung by Pyxis, and its melodic yet heavy bass to go along with it. I couldn’t stop listening, once I heard it. There doesn’t seem to be too much out there by surge, and I’m curious to see where his dubstep career pans out. If N-Type is backing him… I’d guess that he’s going to do well. Big ups to Surge on this special EP! Check it!

Soap Dodgers “Rachel Went South/Belly” Release

Such a clean sound coming from these UK cats. This EP, which was just released on Wheel and Deal Records last night, has such a crisp and full sound to it. Both tracks which instantly make me want to dance, are definitely set for the club. Everything I’ve heard from the duo I’ve like so far, I’m interested to see where they go from here… expect big things. Check it!

Headhunter – “Clone”

This ones a big one… big and deep. I don’t know too much about the artist, but they have been in the game for a minute it seems. This track is set to be released in 3 days on Blackbox Records, along side “Projector” another sick tune from Headhunter. Pumped to put this one in the cart… then straight to the decks.

Cutline – Runnin’ (Rollz Remix)

I wish I didn’t have to wait for songs to come out…. Songs like this make that desire worse and worse. Anyways! Caught this one on the Drum & Bass Arena Podcast and was hooked! Forthcoming on Pilot Records comes Runnin’ by Cutline with Rollz on the remix! The intro is really smooth and relaxed, the song has a good build up, not too dramatic but perfectly eases into the drop. Really great vocals in this tune and above all… MASSIVE BASSLINE! Great future DnB sound and just an overall great song. Check it out below andddd keep your eyes peeled for it on the 27th of this month!! Big ups to Rollz!

Wilkinson – Tonight

So excited for this tune!! Forthcoming on RAM on December 5th, probably one of the smoothest tracks out this month, is Tonight by Wilkinson. It’s not very bassy but is just a really clean track filled with good vibes. Have a listen to the clip below and make sure to grab it off RAM’s website when it’s released!

Nit Grit – Wake up

Do you believe in space travel?!  I sure do when I got Nit Grit bumpin’ at full blast from my King Kong speakers!  Really though…who doesn’t love the idea of space travel?  Team Ganjaology will be in orbit by the year 2020!
These two new Nit Grit tracks titled Wake Up, and I Made This For You, are beautifully crafted works of audio art, crafted to make your ears bleed when played at high volume, even if they are being protected by your space helmet.  Get ready to launch and press play!
