Lion season is here… #RELAX
This tune is featured as one of the selections off of MalLabel’s MeowFace 5000.
It’s the season of the cat. Get your kitty in order!
We all have our ups and our downs, our ins and outs, our goods and our bads. Sometimes it’s painful to see ourselves in these darker reflections, but we must remember… It’s all in balance.
I was reminded of this tune this past weekend while checking out a good friend’s DJ set during which he really played the badman role. This tune was developed and created originally by one of my longtime favorite badman producers Madlib in collaboration with a newer super cold rapper who’s certainly hit the hotlist, Freddie Gibbs.
In this soulful remix, musical editor Badbadnotgood (BBNG) brings a fresh perspective to this already thought stimulating track. Through his use of live jazz drumming, minor chord arpeggios and crafty percussion samples BBNG pushes the limits of contemporary hip hop with elaborate musical expression. If you’re not hip to what these guys are talking about, spend some time with the video for the original tune. The imagery alone tells all. And remember, life is not all light and rainbows… listen to the sounds and feel the vibes. This is real shit. It’s a cultural thing.
What does that mean anyway… Shame?[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwC5ePDNkp0]

New from Machinedrum off his Vapor City album.
Plus, a fabulous remix by Om Unit.

In Seattle, it rains. That’s the bottom line. Shout out to all the water up here in washing-town.
This tune is quite different. Listen…
There are all sorts of chilled out vibes being carried throughout the entirety of this track. This is some true smoker music right here… Light up a fatty and sit back to the Swami Million remix of Cuttooth’s song, Old Tape Machine, featuring Hitomi.
The English producer Murlo has such a beautiful style of production. His tunes have a club feel but they all maintain certain universal appeal that stretches further than the club music lovers. This remix is truly amazing. It’s club ready, but the vibes are so nice that honestly playing this tune in any setting could make sense. Out for free, just click the link below!

UK dub heavyweight, Congo Natty aka Rebel MC is gearing up for a massive release next month through Big Dada Records. The album features ten tracks of pure energy from this pioneer of Jungle Music. Incorporating Roots Reggae, DnB, and contemporary bass music – Jungle Revolution is music to spark inspiration, to fuel the fire of revolution, and to engage the masses to create positive change. The label Big Dada, to which Congo Natty was recently signed, is a sort of independent segment of UK based giant, Ninja Tune.
Check out the teaser film along with the music video for the tune “Revolution” below, and be sure to show your support by purchasing directly from Big Dada Records. Also, don’t miss the Machinedrum remix of the tune “UK Allstars”, featured by Fact Magazine. Peep it here.
Well… This track has been out for 13 hours and it already has almost 200,000 plays on sound cloud. If that doesn’t tell you that this song is a tune, just listen for yourself. Flume aka Harley Streten, is a 21 year old DJ and Producer from Sydney, Australia. He’s definitely got some skill on the production end. I have yet to hear a mix from him but with this type of audio talent I’m sure he can spin a few tunes. This one is unique, it’s production is clean, and the vibes on it are sick! Check this one below if you’ve got a second.

Today Street Bass Bootlegs Vol. 3 is dropping on Clubtapes.com! I haven’t heard any tracks off the third installment of Dev79’s Street Bass Bootleg series other than Starkeys remix of Grown Up, but based off this one song, I’m definitely grabbing the whole mixtape. Starkey and his label Seculsiasis are known for the future bass/street bass sound that they’ve been pushing out of the East Coast for years. This is also a free download so uh….go cop Dev79’s Street Bass Bootlegs Vol. 3!
Really been vibin’ this video. The track is taken from a collection of remixes of Bonobo’s recent album Black Sands. Machinedrum spins magic with the edit, while illustrator Anthony Shepard feeds our minds with incredible visuals. Bless…
FLOSSTRADAMUS X DJ SLIINK WITH AN UZ REMIX!? The NOMADS EP is absolutely bonkers and is just in time to set off the spring. My favorite thing about this EP is how short and sweet it is. With names like TEST ME and CROWD CONTROL Flosstradamus and DJ Sliink are letting you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into when yo click play. Club bangers. They then stepped it up a notch and had UZ remix TEST ME. With a spring release containing such high energy it makes me wonder what Flosstradamus and DJ Sliink have up their sleeves for the summer…!
Wow! Really excited about this one. Extraordinary Magnitude has officially begun their quest to reach the outer limits of musical magnetics. This track is all original, but features an acapella version of Blackstreet’s, “No Diggity”.
Exmag consists of Gramatik, Eric Mendelson, Drastiq, Buffalo Analog, and Illumntr. Stay tuned for more from this extraordinary collective of musicians and be sure to check out their upcoming album, Proportions which will be available this summer via Lowtemp. In the meanwhile give this a spin!
Here is one of my favorite anthems of 2009, We All Have To Get High (Tom Watson Remix), by the legendary German dub group, Dubblestandart. This tune is DEEEEEP. The old school wobbles are a beautiful reminder of the sound that originally caught my ear and started my love for dubstep. Enjoy this one!
FreQ Nasty dropped the third edition of his Bass Nerd Mixtape series at the beginning of the new year and appropriately titled it TRAPPED IN DUB. As you can imagine, this mix contains songs that all share similar qualities of being extra dubby while maintaining that poppin’ 808 sound. The track list is super heady, Check it out! It’s impossible not to vibe to this mix.

Max Powa, Prince Alla, and Seanie T came out with an incredible song entitled Great Stone this past summer via Powa Cuts. With the song already having a very rootsy, minimal, dubstep feel to it, I thought it would only be a matter of time before some remixes would pop up. Sure enough, a few months later, Truth got a hold of the record and took the production to a whole new level with their epically deep and dark remix. This was available on vinyl for a short amount of time, consider yourself lucky if you can still find it! Enjoy this massive remix from Truth and an incredible original from Max Powa, Prince Alla, and Seanie T.
